Basketball Recap: Wilson Piles Up the Points Against Samuell

Wilson posted their biggest victory since November 26th on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Samuell Spartans 49-13. The Wildcats pushed the score to 47-9 by the end of the third, a deficit the Spartans cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wilson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Diana Jaimes, who posted nine points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. With that strong performance, Jaimes is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Charis Henderson, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 10 points.

Wilson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Wilson's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-9. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.8 points per game. As for Samuell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Wilson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-32 defeat against Cleburne on the 26th. As for Samuell, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Poteet at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
