The Damonte Ranch Mustangs were the 34-26 winner over the Fernley Vaqueros when they last played one another back in December of 2014, but their luck changed this time around. Damonte Ranch fell 49-41 to Fernley on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Damonte Ranch can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Fernley is ranked first).
Despite the loss, Damonte Ranch still got an impressive performance from Ivy Rodriguez, who scored 17 points.
Fernley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaelece Wasson out in front who scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds. The matchup was Wasson's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiserita Otuafi, who scored 11 points along with 6 rebounds.
The last time Damonte Ranch won on the road was back last Thursday. Having now lost three straight away matchups, they've bumped their record down to 2-4. As for Fernley, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Damonte Ranch will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Grant at 3:15 p.m. on December 8th. Grant will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. As for Fernley, they will head out on the road to face off against Wooster at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
