Basketball Game Preview: Corner Canyon Chargers vs. Mountain Ridge Sentinels

Corner Canyon is 3-0 against Mountain Ridge since January of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Corner Canyon Chargers will head out on the road to take on the Mountain Ridge Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Corner Canyon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.

Corner Canyon is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Copper Hills, who was ranked 21st at the time (Corner Canyon was ranked tenth). Corner Canyon was the clear victor by a 76-50 margin over Copper Hills on Friday. The Chargers pushed the score to 63-35 by the end of the third, a deficit the Grizzlies cut but never quite recovered from.

Tyler Mortensen went supernova for Corner Canyon, going 8 of 12 on his way to 23 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Mortensen a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Bryton Valdes, who went 7 for 11 en route to 15 points.

Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge came up short against Herriman on Friday and fell 74-67. The Sentinels haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Corner Canyon has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points per game. As for Mountain Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Corner Canyon skirted past Mountain Ridge 63-61 in their previous meeting back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Mountain Ridge's Will Lindsay, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards.
