It was a good run, but the Weaver Beavers unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 82-67 bruising from Conard. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Weaver has scored all season.
Shaheim Wilson and Madden Cupe certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Wilson scored 16 points, while Cupe scored 20 points. Cupe is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ja'kai Perry, who scored 12 points.
Weaver's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-1. As for Conard, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Weaver will stay at home for another game and welcome Academy of Science and Innovation at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Academy of Science and Innovation knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Weaver likes a good challenge. As for Conard, they will head out on the road to square off against Manchester at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Manchester has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
