The El Modena Vanguards had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They really took it to Canyon for the full four quarters, racking up a 48-14 victory on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-7.
It was another big night for Xzavior Guess, who rushed for 48 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 198 yards and a touchdown while completing 84.6% of his passes. Ryan Holzgang made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
El Modena has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. As for Canyon, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
El Modena will head out on the road to face off against Thousand Oaks at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. One thing working in Thousand Oaks' favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last six matches. Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
