Big 8 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Cassville extended the longest winning streak in Big 8 this week by beating Mt. Vernon, 21-12. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Wildcats.
Seneca took down East Newton 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Andrew Parker was the best wideout in the league this week as Aurora fell to Lamar. Parker racked up five receptions for 52 yards. Jordan Fronabarger helped Aurora's passing attack out by catching four balls for 49 yards.
Jacob Lasalle put up the best numbers through the air as the Mountaineers lost to Cassville. He finished with a total of 11 completions for 96 yards and one touchdown. Lasalle's favorite target this week was Zane Phillips, who caught two passes for 47 yards.
Everett Basham was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 97 yards as the Houn Dawgs lost to the Tigers. Teammate Brad Marlar added to the ground attack by rushing for 15 yards.
Carl Junction's Dustin Satterlee and Matt Magee have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Big 8 in both passing and receiving yards. Satterlee has thrown for 1479 yards this season, while Magee has 41 catches for 543 yards. Shane Williams from Mt. Vernon leads the league in rushing with 1246 yards.
In 173 carries Basham has accumulated 934 yard this year.
Monett made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,978 from 3,512. The improvement was the result of 32-7 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
