Softball Recap: Northview Wins Going Away Against Rowland

Northview barely beat Rowland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Raiders on Thursday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 4-2 victory on Tuesday.

Clementina Duran was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since back in February.

In other batting news, Mila Elizalde and Beatriz Diaz did most of the damage at the plate: Elizalde went 2-for-4 with one home run and one double, while Diaz went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles Diaz has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Joy Sanchez, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles.

Northview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 11-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Northview and bumps their season record up to 17-8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Rowland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8-1.

Looking ahead, Northview will venture away from home to face off against Wilson at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Rowland, they will host Covina at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Colts have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.68 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
