Jefferson County extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-16. They came up short against the Aucilla Christian Warriors, falling 8-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 28, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Ja'Lon Crumity was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also big at the plate, earning one run and three stolen bases.
As for Aucilla Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games.
Like Jefferson County, Aucilla Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Hudson Sanders. Throwing, Sanders pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Cooper Wiles kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2025. At bat, Sanders went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Wiles went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Mills, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season. Gavin Thompson was another, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Jefferson County will square off against FAMU DRS at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Baby Rattlers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.71 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Aucilla Christian, they will challenge Lafayette at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
