The Delta Eagles will square off against the Cowan Blackhawks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Delta has four straight victories, Cowan has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
If Delta beats Cowan with five runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Eagles walked away with a 5-2 win over Hagerstown on Wednesday.

Ayden Mitchell tossed a big game, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had over his last two matchups.
On the hitting side, Delta's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Zane Cline, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Cowan didn't have quite enough to beat South Adams on Wednesday and fell 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Blackhawks have lost by just one run.
Jaydon Auker was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Cowan's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Delta, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Delta has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cowan struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Delta took their victory against Cowan when the teams last played back in April of 2021 by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
