Soquel has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Jurupa Hills Spartans at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran up and down the field in their prior games.
With a playoff game on the line, Soquel rose to the challenge on Friday. They really took it to the Rams for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-14 win at home. Soquel's win was all the more impressive since Casa Roble was averaging only 15.14 points allowed on the season.
Soquel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Justice Grauel tebong, who rushed for 81 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Grauel tebong was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 64 yards. Tyreis Lundy and his 127 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Soquel's win.
Meanwhile, Jurupa Hills came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Torres at home to the tune of 41-14. Jurupa Hills pushed the score to 34-6 by the end of the third, a deficit Torres cut but never quite recovered from.
Jurupa Hills can attribute much of their success to Jordan Pernillo, who rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Ruiz, who threw for 94 yards and three touchdowns.
Soquel pushed their record up to 12-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Jurupa Hills, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.
