North Edgecombe is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Tarboro on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. North Edgecombe was dealt an 81-50 loss at the hands of Tarboro. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-22.
The losing side was boosted by Nyzir Mills, who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jahmarie Dickens, who earned six points and three steals.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwest Halifax). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging an 82-42 win over Rocky Mount Prep. The Vikings pushed the score to 61-34 by the end of the third, a deficit the Jaguars had little chance of recovering from.
Northwest Halifax's win came from a few key players North Edgecombe will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Javon Kee, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in steals (three). Another player making a difference was Daveion Richardson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Northwest Halifax is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for North Edgecombe, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: North Edgecombe has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Northwest Halifax struggles in that department as they've been averaging 49.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
