If the Sarcoxie Bears were feeling good off their 58-32 takedown of the Verona Wildcats last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Sarcoxie was dealt a 64-30 loss at the hands of Miller on Monday. Sarcoxie has not had much luck with Miller recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Miller found their leader in underclassman Ashlynn Helton, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Helton hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Loghann Leivan was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Sarcoxie's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5. As for Miller, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sarcoxie will take on Wheaton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Wheaton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 511th, while Sarcoxie is ranked 247th). Miller will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pierce City at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
