If Rifle was riding high off their 17-0 takedown of Meeker last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bears fell just short of the Severance Silver Knights by a score of 7-5 on Friday. The Bears' defeat put an end to their three-game winning streak.

Rifle saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Hartnett, who went 1-for-2 while posting 2 RBIs and 1 walk.

Rifle's loss dropped their record down to 15-9. Severance (18-6) has been on a roll lately: they've now won 10 of their last 11 games.

Rifle didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-1 victory against Silver Creek on the 16th. As for Severance, they will face off against Palmer Ridge at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
