Clarence unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 69-57 to Lancaster.
Meanwhile, Orchard Park's three-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 64-62 win over Williamsville North. Given Orchard Park's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Williamsville North is ranked 313th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Orchard Park got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maggie Gocella out in front who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gocella has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Senfield, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Clarence's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2. As for Orchard Park, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
Clarence was able to grind out a solid victory over Orchard Park in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 57-50. Does Clarence have another victory up their sleeve, or will Orchard Park turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
