As for Whitehall, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Like Spring Lake, Whitehall also got a great game from a two-way player: Beth Leatrea. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Leatrea was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Fogus, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three). Annabel Kevwitch was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Looking ahead, Spring Lake will challenge Kenowa Hills at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.79 runs per game on average), something the Lakers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Whitehall, they will take on North Muskegon at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
