Plainfield South extended their losing streak  to three  on Monday, dropping their season record down to 16-14 in the process. They were a single  run away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Plainfield Central Wildcats. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by  just one  run.
As for Plainfield Central, the  victory was  the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-12-1. Those  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 8.2 runs over those games.
For Plainfield Central's part,  Jamie Crawford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
 At the plate,  Ava Zitello was  excellent,  going 3-for-4 with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  double. That's the most  hits  she has posted since back in April.  Evalyn Prochaska was another key player,  going 1-for-4 with two  runs and one  stolen base.
