The Mountain Crest Mustangs will take on the Deseret Peak Golden Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Crest is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
Mountain Crest barely beat Stansbury the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs never let the Stallions get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Friday. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Hadlee Christensen's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Emersyn Brown was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Allee Carlston, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Deseret Peak was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They fell just short of Ridgeline by a score of 2-1.
Jaelyn Woods was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.
At the plate, Deseret Peak saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vaoahi Fonua, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Deseret Peak's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Mountain Crest, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.
