Softball Recap: Mcminnville Has No Trouble Against Century

While McMinnville put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Century. The Grizzlies put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 10-0 win. The Grizzlies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to MacKenzie Roberts's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up 12 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Vivian Moore was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Marley Howard, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: McMinnville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Century only managed five hits.

The victory made it two in a row for McMinnville and bumps their season record up to 15-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Century, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McMinnville will host Forest Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Grizzlies' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Century, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against West Salem at 5:00 p.m. The Jaguars will need to watch out since the Titans have now posted at least ten runs in their last six contests.
