Basketball Recap: Goleman Now 10-2 over Last 12 Games

Hialeah Gardens came into Thursday's match looking for another win against Goleman, but Franki Sosa wouldn't allow it. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, the Goleman Gators made off with a 40-39 victory over the Hialeah Gardens Gladiators thanks in part to Sosa, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. His evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylon Hall, who posted ten points and six boards. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Hialeah Gardens lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Eduardo Hernandez, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Hialeah Gardens is 2-1 when Hernandez posts eight or more boards, but 3-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Robert Masis, who scored eight points along with 17 rebounds and four blocks.

Goleman has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Hialeah Gardens, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Goleman will welcome Coral Shores at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Goleman's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Coral Shores has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
