After flying high against Trinity Christian Academy last Friday, Clay came back down to earth. The Clay Blue Devils lost 17-4 to the Keystone Heights Indians on Wednesday. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Grace Miller and Amiah Carrubba stepped up to the plate in a big way. Miller scored a run while going 3-for-3, while Carrubba scored a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave Miller a new career-high in hits. Lauren Harris also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Even though they lost, Clay was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Clay's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Keystone Heights, the win also got them back to even at 3-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clay will square off against Palatka at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clay has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Keystone Heights, they will face off against Interlachen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
