Dunlap has not had much luck against Limestone over the past five seasons, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Rockets at 6:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, Dunlap came up short against East Peoria and fell 2-0.
Dunlap was held off the set scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final set scores wound up at 25-13, 25-23.
Despite their loss, Dunlap saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Rebecca Lopez, who had eight digs, seven kills, and a solo block, was perhaps the best of all. Kate Burns was another key player, getting 10 assists, six digs, and two aces.
Meanwhile, Limestone faced Morton in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Rockets walked away with a 2-0 win over the Potters. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rockets.
While Limestone won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-20.
Limestone has now won 13 of their last 14 games on the road. That gives them a 14-2 record this season. As for Dunlap, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
Dunlap couldn't quite get it done against Limestone when the teams last played on October 7, 2025 last season as they fell 2-0. Can the Eagles avenge their loss, or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll have the answer soon enough.
