Eaglecrest sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-41 victory over Overland on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Eaglecrest.
Eaglecrest's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Danivea Hughes, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hughes has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Shyann Farbes, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Overland still got an impressive performance from Seilani Relford, who scored 17 points. Michaela Halton was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Eaglecrest has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Overland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-4.
Eaglecrest will head out on the road to square off against Cherokee Trail at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cherokee Trail will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
