Hampton hasn't had much luck against Cloudland recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Highlanders at 5:00 p.m. Hampton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Hampton needed a bit of extra time to put away Unaka. They had just enough and edged out the Rangers 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since April 4th.
Briley Davis spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Malory Lamb was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hampton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 7-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Cloudland entered their contest against North Greene on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Highlanders fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Highlanders have suffered since May 16, 2024.
Hampton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Cloudland, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.
Hampton suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Cloudland in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
