Orleans had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let the North Daviess Cougars get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Wednesday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Not much got past Izzie Rutherford, who gave up just five hits and racked up nine Ks to keep North Daviess off the board. Rutherford has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Adrian Abel was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cambree Cline, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
The victory (which was Orleans' fifth in a row) raised their record to 21-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for North Daviess, their loss dropped their record down to 20-9.
As of now, neither Orleans nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
