Broken Arrow is 9-0 against Norman since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Broken Arrow Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Norman Tigers at 7:05 p.m. Broken Arrow will be strutting in after a win while Norman will be coming in after a loss.
Even though Moore scored an imposing 35 points on Thursday, Broken Arrow still came out on top. Broken Arrow walked away with a 42-35 win over Moore. The victory was just what Broken Arrow needed coming off of a 42-14 defeat in their prior match.
Among those leading the charge was Cooper Bates, who rushed for 167 yards while picking up 7.6 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Norman scored first but ultimately less than Owasso in their game on Friday. They took a serious blow against the Rams, falling 49-18. While losing is never fun, Norman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Owasso is ranked sixth).
Norman might have lost, but man, Phoenix Murphy was a machine: he rushed for 161 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, and also threw for 194 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 passes. Murphy really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Murphy, who picked up 103 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Broken Arrow's victory bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Norman, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Thursday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Broken Arrow has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 190.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Norman struggles in that department as they've been even better at 202.4 per game. It's looking like Thursday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches. Everything came up roses for Broken Arrow against Norman in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 47-20 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Broken Arrow since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
