The Manchester Valley Mavericks came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 57-45 win over Francis Scott Key. Given Manchester Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Francis Scott Key is ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Manchester Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brendan Luddy, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Strohman, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Manchester Valley pushed their record up to 6-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Francis Scott Key, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.
Manchester Valley's road trip will continue as they head out to face Tuscarora at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Tuscarora comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Francis Scott Key, they will be playing at home against South Carroll at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in South Carroll's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
