The Wendover Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They lost to Monument Valley at home by a decisive 63-48 margin. Wendover was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Monument Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Wendover lost, one person who can't be blamed is Paulina Gomez. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Kadence Murphy, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Wendover's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-3. As for Monument Valley, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Wendover will be playing at home against Altamont at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Monument Valley's road trip will continue as they head out to face St. Joseph at 2:30 p.m. on January 6th. St. Joseph will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Monument Valley is ranked 27th).
