After losing to the Socastee Braves the last time they met, the Christian Academy Saints decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Christian Academy came out on top against Socastee by a score of 35-28 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Christian Academy.
Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grace Owens, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Owens has scored at least a third of Christian Academy's points. Payton Rumley was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Several Braves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anna Reese Pratt, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Pratt is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri Smith, who scored eight points.
Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Socastee, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Christian Academy will take on Florence Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Florence Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Friday. As for Socastee, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Sumter at 6:00 p.m. Sumter will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
