3A District 5 recap September 24, 2013
Clearwater Central Catholic's J. T. Steele recorded the longest rushing play in 3A District 5 this season in his game against Shorecrest Prep last week. Steele ran for 95 yards on the play and finished with 95 on the day as his team bested the Chargers.
St. Petersburg Catholic moved up to 242 from 296 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Barons climbed the ranks as a result of besting Admiral Farragut 35-10.
Calvary Christian's dynamic duo of Conor Regan and Jeremy Wood proved to be unstoppable against Carrollwood Day, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Regan threw for 278 yards and 4 touchdowns and Wood had 112 yards receiving.
The Warriors' dynamic duo of Regan and Wood proved tough for the Patriots to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Wood was the best receiver in the league this week as Calvary Christian lost to Carrollwood Day.
Jaquan Fuller was the best running back in 3A District 5 this week. He ran for 108 yards on 13 carries as St. Petersburg Catholic fell to Lane Mclaughlin's team. Teammate Tony Jones added to the ground attack by rushing for 88 yards.
Regan put up the best numbers in passing as the Warriors lost to the Patriots.
He went 13-20 with 1 interception.
Thanks to the talents of Regan and Danny Giordano, Calvary Christian has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Regan is tops in the league in passing with 468 yards, while Giordano has rushed for 554 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Clearwater Central Catholic's CJ Cotman, with 151 yards on 8 catches.
Shorecrest Prep lost to John Davis' team 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
