The Everglades Gators suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Fort Lauderdale by a score of 54-52. Everglades just can't catch a break and has now endured five defeats in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Everglades lost, one person who can't be blamed is Daunte Foster, Jr. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points. Lance Bailey, Jr was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Everglades' loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 11-8. As for Fort Lauderdale, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Everglades will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Cardinal Gibbons at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Cardinal Gibbons knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Everglades likes a good challenge. Fort Lauderdale won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Coral Springs Charter at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Coral Springs Charter comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
