The Forest Hills Tigers will face off against the Carrabec Cobras at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Forest Hills will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Greenville, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Lakers on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
Meanwhile, Carrabec entered their tilt with Greenville on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Lakers with a sharp 11-1 victory. That's two games straight that the Cobras have won by exactly ten runs.
Zack Davis made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Carrabec is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 1-4 otherwise. Davis was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Jackson Newton was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Carrabec's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Reed Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Carrabec pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Forest Hills, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Forest Hills took their win against Carrabec in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 12-1 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cobras turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
