It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Portales Rams can now relate to. They took a serious blow against the Wildcats on Saturday, falling 57-21. It was the first time this season that Portales let down their fans at home.
Several Rams players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Paxton Culpepper, who threw for 330 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was Braden Beck, who picked up 126 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Wyatt Gomez was his usual excellent self, throwing for 384 yards and six touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes for Lovington. Gomez is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cesar Gonzalez, who picked up 162 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Portales' loss dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Lovington, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-3.
Portales does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lovington also has no future games currently scheduled.
