3A South Central recap October 29, 2013
Alec Wirtjes of Discovery Canyon ran for the longest rushing play in 3A South Central this season against Woodland Park last week. Wirtjes ran for 95 yards on the play and finished with 150 on the day as his team beat the Panthers.
Discovery Canyon added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Woodland Park, 42-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for Shawn Mitchell's team.
Jonathan Scott was the best wideout in the league this week as Lewis-Palmer bested Mitchell. Scott racked up 4 receptions for 59 yards.
The top two teams in 3A South Central will face off this week when first place Coronado takes on second place Discovery Canyon.
The Thunder's offense has recorded 338 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Coronado has permitted only 53 on the year.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when the Cougars' Sam Smith goes up against Discovery Canyon's Michael Beiswenger.
Next week's game between Coronado and the Thunder will feature a good passing match up as Joah Smith will test his arm against Beiswenger's defensive ability.
