Baseball Recap: Tidehaven Beats Edna for Their Second Straight Win

Tidehaven won against Edna last Tuesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Tigers beat the Cowboys by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 9-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-5 last Tuesday.

CAMDEN JOHNSON was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on TRISTAN GALVAN, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of KALE RUSSELL, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Tidehaven kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Tidehaven and bumps their season record up to 12-7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Edna, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Tidehaven is set to challenge their familiar foe Industrial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3.4, the Cobras 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Edna will square off against rival Yoakum at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
