The biggest upset of the week belonged to Indiana, who took down 243rd ranked Greensburg Salem, 41-23.
Nico Lodovico and Colin Jonov provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Knoch. The connection was good for 63 yards, the longest such play in WPIAL AAA Northeastern this season.
Franklin Regional's dynamic duo of Lodovico and Charan Singh proved tough for the Knights to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lodovico threw for 183 yards and three touchdowns and Singh had 155 yards receiving. Dane Brown helped Franklin Regional's passing attack out by catching one ball for 20 yards.
Joshua Schultheis was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 204 yards as Mars beat Knoch. Jason Lozzi also contributed to the rushing game with 79 yards on the ground.
5-foot-8 quarterback Jon Nigro of Hampton is the league leader in passing yards this season with 847. He has also thrown five touchdowns. On the ground, the Fightin' Planets' Schultheis has rushed for 954 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Josh Wannarnaker. The Derry star has 25 catches for 438 yards.
Mars' Schultheis needs only 46 yards against Mike King's team next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in WPIAL AAA Northeastern this week will be when Scott D Heinauer's team takes on the Knights. At the moment, the Fightin' Planets are in first, while Knoch is in fourth.
The Little Indians moved up to 298 from 360 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Indiana climbed the ranks as a result of a 41-23 win over the Golden Lions.
