The Union County Fightin' Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 61-60 to Interlachen. The game was a 31-31 toss-up at halftime, but Union County was outscored by Interlachen in the second.
Despite the loss, Union County still got an impressive performance from Thomas Williams, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Jayden Jenkins, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Interlachen found their leader in underclassman Kemontae Nixon, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nixon has scored all season. Raszir Phelps was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Union County bumped their record down to 7-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Interlachen, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union County will play host again and welcome The Rock, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rock knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Union County likes a good challenge. As for Interlachen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Florida School for the Deaf & Blind at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Florida School for the Deaf & Blind is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
