Baseball Recap: Loyola College Prep's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Loyola College Prep had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Haughton Buccaneers. This was payback for the Flyers, who suffered a 6-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Cole Pryor made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Pryor was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other pitching news, Gavin Brint looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Pryor wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Will Pickett, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. The dominant performance gave Pickett a new career-high in RBI. Another was John Luke Lauve, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Loyola College Prep's win bumped their record up to 7-2-1. As for Haughton, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Loyola College Prep will welcome St. Mary at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Haughton, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Erath at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Haughton: 3.4, Erath: 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
