The Kingman Academy Tigers are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge the Williams Vikings at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Kingman Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 25-1 margin over Parker on Monday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Emily Mathys was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with five runs and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Sanders, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Taylor, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Kingman Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parker only posted an OBP of .316.
Meanwhile, Williams got the win against Camp Verde on Monday by a conclusive 7-1.
Like Kingman Academy, Williams also got a great game from a two-way player: Audrina Baldwin. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Baldwin was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those home runs were her first of the season.
Baldwin wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Molly Kennelly, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another was Faith Jensen, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Kingman Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Williams, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Williams' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Kingman Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .489. It's a different story for Williams, though, as they've only averaged .214. Will they be able to contain Kingman Academy's hitters?
Kingman Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Williams when the teams last played back in March of 2025, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
