Ava McLeod made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Advanced Math & Science Academy got a massive performance out of Madelyn Glynn, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Glynn has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Makayla Laudate also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Advanced Math & Science Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Notre Dame Academy only posted an OBP of .381.
Doherty Memorial never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against North on Thursday. They blew past the Polar Bears 13-1.
Audrey Lefebvre was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Panagiotou, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Advanced Math & Science Academy pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Doherty Memorial, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Advanced Math & Science Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Doherty Memorial struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Advanced Math & Science Academy took their win against Doherty Memorial in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
