Steeleville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Roberts, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Hepp, who scored two points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Gibault Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Briana Baldridge, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Kamille Grohmann, who scored nine points.
Steeleville's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-11. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for Gibault Catholic, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Steeleville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Shawnee at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for Gibault Catholic, they will head out on the road to take on Althoff Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Althoff Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
