The Carson City-Crystal Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the St. Charles Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Carson City-Crystal will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Carson City-Crystal will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating St. Louis, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Sharks 9-7.
Haven Reeder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Charles, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. Everything went their way against Montabella last Tuesday as they made off with a 14-1 win. Considering the Bulldogs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Ella Mose made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Mose was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Kylie Fiting was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Abrielle Dinninger was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
St. Charles always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montabella only posted an OBP of .286.
Carson City-Crystal's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-14. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for St. Charles, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-12.
Carson City-Crystal skirted past St. Charles 8-6 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
