Picayune extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region 4 this week by beating Gautier, 63-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Maroon Tide.
Picayune took down the Gators 63-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Xavier Haralson ran for 105 yards in the win.
Anthony Mitchell put up the best numbers through the air as Moss Point beat West Harrison. He finished with six completions for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Mitchell's favorite target this week was Lige Mims, who caught two passes for 35 yards.
Terek Whitehead was the best wideout in the league this week as Pearl River Central topped East Central. Whitehead racked up one reception for 38 yards. Daniel Rosine helped Pearl River Central's passing attack out by catching two balls for 25 yards.
Kevin Scott was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 11 carries, he ran for 153 yards as Pascagoula bested the Hornets. Teammate Stacey Warren added to the ground attack by rushing for 56 yards.
Long Beach's Thad Miller and Chad Cook have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 5A Region 4 in both passing and receiving yards. Miller has thrown for 493 yards this season, while Cook, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 14 catches for 293 yards. The Maroon Tide's Preston Dedeaux leads the league in rushing yards with 747.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Panthers and Picayune. Pascagoula comes into the matchup ranked 14th in the state, while the Maroon Tide ranks first.
East Central made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,298 from 9,118. The advance stemmed from a 28-7 victory over Marcus High's team last week.
