Baseball Recap: Mahanoy Area's Losing Streak Snapped at Eight Games

Mahanoy Area came into Saturday's contest having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past the Columbia Montour Vo-Tech Rams 10-2 on Saturday. The Golden Bears not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15th (when they won 11-1).

Mahanoy Area got a massive performance out of Joe Rick, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. What's more, Rick posted two runs, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Donovan Herman was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Mahanoy Area's victory bumped their record up to 3-15. As for Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mahanoy Area will welcome Marian Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, they will face off against Millville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Quakers have averaged an impressive 11.1 runs per game this season.
