Altamont is 8-2 against Shelbyville since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Altamont Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Shelbyville Rams at 7:30 p.m. Altamont is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
Altamont stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 60-39 margin over North Clay/Clay City. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-10.
Kaidyn Miller continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aden McManaway, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, even though Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, Shelbyville still came out on top. Shelbyville enjoyed a cozy 75-57 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City. Given Shelbyville's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City is ranked 582nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Altamont has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Shelbyville, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5.
Everything went Altamont's way against Shelbyville when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as Altamont made off with a 77-53 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Altamont since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
