Softball Recap: Liberty Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Liberty put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Faith Lutheran Crusaders as the Liberty Patriots made off with a 17-2 win. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by exactly 15 runs.

Charlotte Crittenden looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ciana Cubi, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Presley Crowder also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Faith Lutheran only posted an OBP of .385.

Liberty's record is now 5-0. As for Faith Lutheran, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty will take on Grand Terrace in a tournament on Wednesday. Liberty will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. Faith Lutheran will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Coronado at 4:00 p.m. on March 25th.
