Baseball Recap: Augusta Has No Trouble Against Robertson County

Augusta made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Robertson County, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Panthers never let the Black Devils get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Thursday. That looming 15-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Panthers yet this season.

Will Kelsch was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Kelsch was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Augusta let Grayson Miller and Griffin Miller run wild. Grayson went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Griffin scored two runs and stole five bases while going 1-for-1. Those three RBI gave Grayson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keeton Bach, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Augusta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .562. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Augusta's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Robertson County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Augusta will take on Ludlow at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Augusta's pitchers better be ready for this one: Ludlow has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Robertson County, they will face off against Holmes at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Black Devils are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
