The Northampton Konkrete Kids will challenge the Parkland Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northampton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Northampton after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Liberty by a score of 7-6. The Konkrete Kids haven't had much luck with the Hurricanes recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Aidan Sugra made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Austin Sommers, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Parkland entered their tilt with Pocono Mountain West on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Panthers get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. Considering the Trojans have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Mack Parsell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. That hit was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Parkland got a great performance from Sawyer Marsteller as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Marsteller has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Ben Weninger was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Will Dobil was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Parkland lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Parkland's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.6 runs this season. As for Northampton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Both Northampton and Parkland just can't seem to miss. Northampton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Parkland struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northampton came out on top in a nail-biter against Parkland in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will Northampton repeat their success, or does Parkland has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
