If the Randolph Ghosts were riding high off their 77-57 takedown of the Peoples Academy Wolves last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Randolph took a serious blow against Montpelier on Friday, falling 82-50. While losing is never fun, Randolph can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Vermont basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Montpelier is ranked fifth).
Carson Cody was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with four steals for Montpelier. Cody has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Clayton Foster, who scored 16 points along with five assists.
Randolph has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season. As for Montpelier, the victory was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.
Randolph didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-61 loss vs. U-32 on the 10th. Montpelier will be playing at home against North Country Union at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Montpelier has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,251 points over their last 17 matchups.
