If the Lowndes Vikings were feeling good off their 85-39 takedown of the Berrien Rebels last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Lowndes was the victim of a tough 56-31 defeat at the hands of Berkeley Prep on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Lowndes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 234th in Georgia, while Berkeley Prep is ranked 48th in Florida).
Lowndes' loss came despite strong showings from Ruben Compton and Isaiah Camon. Compton scored eight points, while Camon scored ten points. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for him.
Lowndes has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Berkeley Prep, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Lowndes will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Valdosta at 7:30 p.m. on January 13, 2024. Berkeley Prep won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hilliard at 4:00 p.m. on December 22nd.
