It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Vallejo Redhawks had no problem doing just that on Friday. They managed a 28-22 victory over Del Norte. The victory was nothing new for Vallejo as they're now sitting on five straight.
Leading Vallejo to victory were Jasier Smith and David Buddha Bernstine III. Smith threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns, while Buddha Bernstine III picked up 124 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Buddha Bernstine III was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 63 yards.
Vallejo is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Del Norte, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
Vallejo will head out on the road to face off against Acalanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Acalanes presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Vallejo in California (Acalanes is ranked 134th, while Vallejo is ranked 434th). Del Norte does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
